The new album by Arnie Somogyi's Ambulance has been receiving rave reviews across the UK press. “Accident and Insurgency" was launched via a tour including dates at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.

Comments include:

“That unlikely mix of gentle attentiveness between musicians, a caring, unfussy, love of detail and a capacity to laugh and robustly stretch out makes this a joyous recording indeed." --Jazzwise

“The result is a dynamic set that's full of surprises, tumbling chord and tempo changes, atmospheric effects and quicksilver improvised solo runs." --BBC Music Magazine

“Varied, thoughtful and consistently engaging." --The Times

The album features five of the UK's most accomplished young jazz musicians, in collaboration with U.S. jazz legend Eddie Henderson. One of the aims of Ambulance is to sound “like a band", not just a group of musicians - but with free improvisation and spontaneity a vital component within the structure of the music.

The talented core quintet is the perfect foil for the musical open-mindedness of Henderson, the trumpet player who has recorded with Herbie Hancock, Pharoah Saunders and Joe Henderson. He also recorded a host of albums for Blue Note and Capital in the 1970s.

The eleven original compositions were inspired by the people and places of Aldeburgh on the beautiful Suffolk coast where the album was recorded - and the location of their Arts Council musical development residency.

The result is a whole new repertoire of inventive, fresh material which will be showcased on a UK tour in February 2008.
