"THE PENGUIN REVOLUTION knows how to throw a party. Mixing genres in clever ways, they tell the continuing story of penguin Oscar Hamilton, who is after nothing short of world domination."—This Week In New York

THE PENGUIN REVOLUTION started as the brain-child of then 16-year-old band founder Kevin McIntyre while visiting the aquarium at the zoo. Kevin was appalled at the horrors he perceived of caged animal life, seeing them feeding on rotten fish and put on display for the public's amusement. He particularly empathized with one little penguin who looked so angry, Kevin thought he might break though the glass at any moment. He nick-named the penguin Oscar Hamilton and the idea for THE PENGUIN REVOLUTION began.

THE PENGUIN REVOLUTION officially formed in 2005 in Long Island, NY. Their song lyrics tell the tale of Oscar Hamilton, leader and savior of the animals, who is arousing all the penguins and planning a massive revolt against the human race. The band draws its musical inspiration from Tenacious D, Beastie Boys, George Clinton, Faith No More, and Medeski Martin and Wood. While intelligently fusing funk, ska, reggae and heavy rock music, the group incorporates a plethora of instruments and personalities to create new and unique sounds. In addition to guitar, bass and drums, the ensemble includes trumpet, alto sax, trombone, and didgeridoo!

Fans of THE PENGUIN REVOLUTION always look forward to their outrageous live performances. There can be as many as 10 band members on stage, all joining together to make a joyful noise. In addition to their funky get-ups, the group is always joined onstage by a life-size live “penguin" who oft times jumps into the audience to dance and body surf with the crowd.
