A full evening of pianist and composer Andrew Hills works will be performed by the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra on Thursday, October 16 at 8 pm in The Peter Jay Sharp Theater. This is only the second concert of all Hill works since the composers passing in April 2007, and it would be great to see you there.

The first half of the program features arrangements of Hills compositions by Ron Horton: “Divine Revelation," “Dusk," “ML," “Laverne, No Doubt," and “Venture Inward." The second half of the program features works arranged by Mr. Hill and Mr. Horton: “Bellezza #3," “A Beautiful Day," “5/4 Piece," “Faded Beauty #2," “Faded Beauty #1," and “New Pinocchio." Many of these compositions may be heard on Hills 2002 release, A Beautiful Day (Palmetto Records).

A 1993 recording of Andrew Hill and Chico Hamilton is now available: Dreams Come True (Joyous Shout!) is a monumental musical conversation between two of jazzs most innovative elder statesmen. On this recording, these two NEA Jazz Masters bring their varying styles together into a distinct, mutual song of ideas soaked with wit and humor. According to Chico, Hill was a genius and a beautiful human being! Its an honor to add his unique voice to my recording catalog.
