Andreas Oberg and Jimmy Bruno Form the Artistworks Guitar Project

Published:
Andreas Oberg Two of today's greatest jazz guitarists collaborate for the first time ever for 5 intense days in Napa California at the studio of ArtistWorks. Video footage of the Guitar Project and behind the scenes video and audio are to be released.

So what happens when two world class guitarists get together for the first time? What if you close the door and tell them “go do something new together"?

Jimmy Bruno and Andreas Oberg had never met until a few weeks ago. Two of today's most talented jazz guitarists had almost comically missed each other in different parts of the world. The ArtistWorks Guitar Project brought them together 5 intense days of exploration, collaboration, performing and just plain jamming several weeks ago. Not only did Napa get awed by a night of incredibly impressive guitar chops, the two wrote an original tune called “Napa Nights".

The only thing Andreas and Jimmy have in common is that they both play jazz guitar. Jimmy is from South Philly and Andreas from Stockholm Sweden. Andreas is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Jimmy taught himself to play, but had some lessons from a bass player when he was young. At the AndreasGuitarUniverse.com, Andreas teaches jazz improvisation and gypsy jazz based on theory (mostly scales and modes). On the Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute (jimmybrunoguitarinstitute.com), you're not supposed to mention either! Not only are their styles and methods different, Jimmy is 5 feet 7 inches and Andreas is 6 feet 5 inches tall. Andreas was a model and Jimmy was, well a guitarist. The pictures tell the rest.

“Both men have climbed to the top of the jazz guitar mountain, but have come up different sides. Each a giant by any standard, “ says David Butler, CEO of ArtistWorks, Inc. Over the next several weeks, ArtistWorks, Inc. will release video and audio recordings of their collaborative efforts that took place behind closed doors. Fans and students alike will get to hear what each guitarist had to say about the other while in a separate room and witness two virtuoso guitarists discover and expand each other's incredible talent.
