Classics of Jazz, world music and the words of Jack Kerouac with David Amram and his quartet, with guests John Ventimiglia of “Ths Sopranos" reading from Jack Kerouac's ON THE ROAD, and Jazz Vocalist Trisha O'Brien singing some of Jack's favorite tunes.

In the Fall of 1957, Novelist Jack Kerouac and composer/musician David Amram presented the first public jazz/poetry readings ever given in New York City. The program, “From Cairo to Kerouac: classics of Jazz, world music, compositions by David Amram, and readings with music of Kerouac's ON THE ROAD re-creates this historic reading a half century later.

Composer David Amram, Kerouac's principal musical collaborator and actor John Ventimiglia have worked together for years presenting concerts throughout the East Coast.

Jazz vocalist Trisha O'Brien has performed in jazz clubs all over America will be singing two of Kerouac's favorite classic songs of the era.

The Kerouac Project purchased and renovated the house where Kerouac was living when his classic ON THE ROAD was published in 1957. Their all-volunteer Board houses writers from around the world inn the same place where Kerouac lived and wrote, through their Writer in Residence grants, and fund research travel/writing stipends through their Galati grants.
