“Noneto Ibérico...It's like a whirlwind tour through gorgeous, lush flamenco grooves. Brimming with passion and spice, Cuadrado has accomplished something truly hot with this one." —Jazz, Blues & The Truth

Barcelona-born bassist-composer Alexis Cuadrado takes the Bride stage for the first time to perform music from his latest release, Noneto Iberico. Following his deep research into the roots of Spain's Flamenco music, Cuadrado has extracted its bare-bone elements and reconstructed them using his very own aesthetic. Backed by his nine-piece ensemble, Cuadrado blends traditional Spanish Flamenco with improvisational idioms within contemporary jazz. His recent project takes a step beyond blends of flamenco and jazz previously introduced. Fans of both jazz and world music will experience Cuadrado breaking new ground along hybrid terrains, riding shotgun.

Each compositional piece of “Noneto Ibérico" is based on a specific flamenco arrangement style known as “Palo." Each has its own complexities and idiosyncrasies: a specific form, rhythm, harmony and melodic twists—Cuadrado faithfully maintains these guidelines in every movement of his suite, assuring cultural authenticity while drawing on his resources from other musical sensibilities including jazz, world music, and chamber music.
