7 Virtual Jazz Club's Contest 2018 Edition: Winners Announced!

The 7 Virtual Jazz Club is proud to announce the winners of the 2018 edition of the contest. The international jury, made of jazz experts, composed their ranks.

Pros & Amateurs’ Category

The jury prize for the best musician (€ 2,000 plus a live concert in the Jazz Club Ferrara- Italy) has been assigned to the Austrian group David Helbock’s Random Control (David Helbock, piano, percussion; Johannes Bär, tuba, percussion; Andreas Broger, saxophone) which presented the song “Spain".

Second Prize: Armenian pianist Arthur Satyan for “Theme for two". Third Prize: Japanese pianist Rina Yamazaki for “Cherokee".

7 Virtual Jazz Judges Comment on David Helbock’s Random Control's “Spain":

“The most original and inventive peace. Great trio.” —Dubi Lenz, Israeli journalist, broadcaster, art director of The Red Sea Jazz Festival

“Virtuosic playing with an interesting rhythmic treatment and great character in the performance. A wonderfully tight ensemble.” —Greg Stott, Australian guitarist and teacher at the Australian National University

“Enjoyed the originality and uniqueness of this arrangement. Nice song choice for competition. Great entertainment too.” —Geila Zilkha, Japanese jazz vocalist, songwriter, educator

Under 25 Students’ Category

The Jury prize for the best Under 25 Student (€ 700 plus a special prize offered by Taklit Publishing & Promotion) has been assigned to the Spanish pianist Carlos Pascual Cippelletti which presented the song “Andanza”.

Web Community prize

€ 500 plus artistic advertising was awarded to the Israeli flutist and composer Mattan Klein for “Used to be".

The 7 Virtual Jazz Club’s Team wants to thank all the contestants and the International jury that collaborated to this edition.

News

Pre-registration 2019 is now open. Musicians can get a better deal on the entry fee by pre-registering. Deadline for pre-registration: June 1, 2019.
