Producers have announced that The New World F.E.S.T. (www.thenewworldfest.com), a new breed of Eco-Festival taking place from October 7-9, 2011 at the beach in Santa Monica, CA is offering two prime-time, full-paying gigs exclusively to Indie artists. To be considered for the gigs, bands must apply by submitting their EPK (Electronic Press Kit) through Sonicbids at www.sonicbids.com/thenewworldfest on or before September 16, 2011. All entries will be juried, rated and two winners will be chosen to play before thousands of eco-friendly festival-goers at the 2011 show.

Winners will be chosen on September 26, 2011.

“The ideal F.E.S.T. music would be energetic, melodic, and fitting of our eco-themes," says Kacy Palmieri, the F.E.S.T. Programming Director. “If the artists' content, lyrics, outfits or appeal play to the environmentally friendly or forward-thinking science and technology aspects of the show, this will be considered a positive at the time of the selection process."

The New World F.E.S.T. is a large-scale outdoor festival and exposition, which celebrates eco-awareness and forward-thinking science and technology. The three-day event occurs in Santa Monica, known throughout the nation for its commitment to sustainability and the environment, and will encompass nearly 100,000 square feet of space, offer six performance stages and feature over 150 exhibitors.

F.E.S.T. producer Howard Mauskopf feels that a highly visual, content-rich outdoor event on the beaches of Santa Monica will be a welcome contrast to the more commonly staged convention center expos so often hosting green events. “We want this event to help expand the market for green which means we cannot just cater to the converted," he says. “There are so many people, right now, on the very cusp of embracing a more eco-friendly lifestyle. We want to reach them, and give them a push to become more proactive." Additional programs at the family-friendly F.E.S.T. include innovative product demonstrations, panel discussions and symposiums with leading eco-experts, natural cooking workshops, a 'spiritual oasis' with healing techniques, yoga, and massage, an eco-theatre screening environmentally focused films with commentary by renowned filmmakers, a series of sustainable art exhibits and wide array of technology covering everything from virtual reality to robots.

Confirmed speakers include actor and activist Ed Begley Jr., celebrity chef Bryan Au, eco-architects David Hertz and Nicolo Bini, TreePeople founder and CEO Andy Lipkis, author and CEO of The Humane Society, Wayne Pacelle and “The Trailmaster" John McKinney. Films being screened with commentary include Oscar®-winner The Cove, Dirt! The Movie, Save the Farm, Rock the Boat, and Metamorphosis. Confirmed sustainable artists include Dave Lovejoy, Cynthia Minet, and Oscar winner Franklin Londin. The New World F.E.S.T. is being held south of the Santa Monica Pier at the intersection of Ocean Park and the beach. Dates and hours for the event are Friday, October 7 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adult admission is $12; seniors and children (14 and under) are $8 and infant and toddlers are free. Admission includes all concerts, speakers, seminars, panels, stage activities, film screenings, and access to all exhibits. Food and beverage is reasonably priced.
