2005 Auburn Invitational Jazz Festival

The Auburn High School Bands, in conjunction with the Auburn Band Parents’ Association will host the 2005 Auburn Invitational Jazz Festival for middle school, junior high and high school jazz bands on Saturday, March 5th, 2005, beginning at 8am in the Auburn Performing Arts Center, 700 East Main Street, Auburn, WA. The festival will include juried competition, a variety of clinics and will conclude with a Winners Concert at 7pm that evening featuring our guest artist and clinician, MIKE VAX, the Auburn High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Brett Dupree, and one middle school/junior high school and one high school jazz band selected by the judges. This festival is a fundraiser for the Auburn Band. Admission to the festival and concert is $10, children under 5 free. A few of MIKE VAX’S credits include being first trumpet, soloist and road manager of the Stan Kenton Orchestra, as well as being co-leader while Mr. Kenton was recovering from surgery; leading the Dukes of Dixieland in New Orleans; producing and/or music directing for over 25 jazz festivals; and performing workshops for more than 1000 high schools, colleges and universities all over the world. He is currently a National Artist for the YAMAHA CORP. OF AMERICA.
