13th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium invites all media personnel and the jazz community to attend a press conference for the occasion of the 13th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival. The event is hosted by Long Island University Brooklyn at the Kumble Theater on Tuesday, February 21st, 12 noon until 1:00 PM located at Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues, Brooklyn, New York.

Guest speakers include Borough President Marty Markowitz, New York State Assembly Member Annette Robinson, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn's Kings County liaison representative Felix Palacios, and NYC Council Member Letitia James. The conference will take on a Mardi Gras (February 21st is also known as Fat Tuesday) type atmosphere with featured performers from Brooklyn's West Indian Day Carnival Parade and jazz artists. Festival performing musicians and venue directors will be available for interviews.

The 13th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival-Jazz: A Music of the Spirit, March 30 thru April 30, 2012. This music event is NYC's longest continually running grass roots festival dedicated to jazz. Concerts/events will take place throughout the borough from Coney Island to Williamsburg sections of Brooklyn. Festival 2012 is supported by Brooklyn Tourism and Visitors Center, an initiative of Borough President Marty Markowitz and by The People of Brooklyn.

Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium/CBJC founded in 1999, is an amalgam of patrons, entertainment venues, faith based institutions, community organizations and musicians. Over the past twelve (12) years CBJC has presented an annual spring festival, established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame & Museum (TM), and produced yearly programs that feature local jazz talent. CBJC is a nonprofit corporation committed to preserving, promoting and supporting live music within the under served communities of Brooklyn.
